The conference opened on Friday 10 March at De Balie with the Dutch premiere of Ian Cheng’s Life after BOB: The Chalice Study, followed by a conversation with the artist and Leonardo Dellanoce.

Conference Day: Art in the Age of the Metaverse
Day 2 opened at De Balie with a keynote by Micaela Mantegna and ended with a panel discussion with Marina Otero, Primavera de Filippi, Barbara Cueto & Margarita Osipian. Full programme here.

The Art in the Age of the Metaverse showcase ran parallel to the conference with artworks by artists who were speaking during the programme: Morehshin Allahyari, Kévin Bray, Ian Cheng, Ali Eslami, Moving Castles (Arthur Roeing Baer+GVN), Katja Novitskova, Babusi Nyoni, Shuruq Tramontini & Peter Wu+.
From big-scale live simulations in Unity to poetic renditions of AI image datasets, the showcase explored the metaverse as a shared space at the nexus of the virtual and the physical.
